ReplyDeletePresentation 1: Software Tool (SpreadSheet)
Today's presentation was a great way to introduce the topic of tools and how we will be able to prepare our presentation in the tool part.
Spread sheets are great tools in analyzing data and managing numbers.
The spreadsheets are a flexible tool that could be always adjusted. In that presentation I refreshed my memory in how to use excel and add a chart.
Presentation 2:As to the presentation of our colleage Sereen on Powerpoint software.
It was an informative one. She highlighted on the benefits of this software tool. As to the limitation part it was a debatable issue where most of the students believed it's boring, but I belive it's a guide in instruction and it depends on the presentor who is presenting.
What I didn't know before is the part of the six slides with six lines in the concrete example.
Overall, it was an interesting and informative presentation. It showed us how important it is to introduce powerpoint presentation in instruction. Moreover, she enlightended us on the way we make powerpoint slides integrated with movies.
Presentation 3- Presentor: Mohamad Sharab
Graphing Tool
This presentation statred as an interesting one especially that Mohamad possesses a wonderfull and easy going character.
The content of the whole presentation was new for me. It expanded my knowledge in mathmatics and made math formulas and equations appeal easier. The 3D part was the most interesting.
I'd like to thank my friends for sharing their interesting presentations with us.
the presentations were great,
ReplyDeleteeverybody deserves at least a "B"
Excel and Power Point are the basic tools for instruction, and the graphic tool is a more proficient tool.
every teacher should be able to use the Power Point and the Excel, if anyone wants any further information on these two tools, Google it first, and if you can't find what your looking for, I am ready to help.
:D:D:D
Concerning the first presentation, I learned how to use the data in the excel sheet in order to use them in a chart .
ReplyDeleteSirin's presentation about Powerpoint was nice. I will never forget the main points in creating an interesting presentation: no bulletpoints-using inspiring images- 6 by 6 rule- use plain backgrounds- keep it simple!
The third presentation was about a software which we have no background about. The graphing tool is a very interesting one but to me , i find it very complex.

It is a interesting new subject to me. It is very interesting and it is easy to be used by students especially focusing on the 3D
Mohammed has a very interesting character that attracts any student's attention. he provided a tool that facilitates math which is considered to be one of the fearful subjects.
ReplyDeleteIn Excel presentation it was a refreshing presentation providing the basic steps to facilitate teachers calculations.

Good Luck to all, Zeina
Thank you all for your comments, I wish that you have tried to work on the hands on activity in class but there was some technical problems.
ReplyDeleteThe tool’s presentations today were really great and beneficial.
ReplyDeleteThe Excel tool or spreadsheet was excellent and learned a lot from details didn’t know about before, and I consider it as a time saving technology tool. I liked the most the live practice exercise done in class to learn how to apply the tool and benefit from it as an effective method in teaching and motivating students in classroom. Thank you Dr Zeina it was great.
The PowerPoint presentation done by Sirine was very beneficial and smooth, I was very interested following her, she for sure shed lights on a lot that I’ve never thought it is important and it will really help me in my future PPT for my students. Thank you Sirine for your efforts.
The Graphing tool presentation done by Mohamad was very new to me and never knew about it and will try to apply it at work. I just would like to recommend a practice exercise to be more familiar about it. I really like Mohamad as a teacher; he’s dynamic and full of live. Thank you Mohamad it was great.
Thank you all.
Thank you all for your great and informative comments! I am glad that we have the opportunity to work in a Lab and to have these hands-on activities! :)

The pdf article about PowerPoint presentation is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt's about a study done and the purposes are to investigate pre-service teachers’ attitudes toward
PowerPoint presentations, understand the reasons why they prefer to see PowerPoint presentations in their future classes, and present their suggestions about the ways to improve the quality and usefulness of PowerPoint presentations. The survey contains 12- item Likert scale type questions and two open-ended questions.
The data were collected from 211 pre-service teachers studying at three different departments in one of the large Turkish Universities. The findings of the study indicated that the majority of the participants prefer to see PowerPoint presentations in their future classes for helping them study for the course exams and providing the long term retention of knowledge. More than half of the participants suggest that more visuals, pictures, and videos should be used in PowerPoint presentations.
As conclusion, lots of suggestions were discussed to improve the quality of a PPT will list some of it:
-The quality of PowerPoint presentations depend on mainly the instructor. The PPT should be prepared in terms of not only physical structure but also the content and not to turn it to typical teacher-centered
instruction but to provide student participation and interaction.
- PPT is valuable tool to get student attention during the entire session and not only at the beginning of the instruction. That’s why Visuals including pictures, animations or videos related to content may be very helpful to achieve this goal.
- PPT can be more useful if they are clearly organized and briefly summarize the topic, because longer text and slides can have students lost their attention and get boring.
- PPT should not be used all of the time, but should be supported by a variety of student-centered methods in which students may actively participate such as activities, experiments, group works, case studies, and discussions.
This a brief summary of what I’ve concluded from this interesting article, hope you all find it useful and beneficial.
Thank you.
Excellent post Samiha!! Thank you for your comments! I think that students must read the material provided by the presenters and they should comment on it, exactly as you did!! Very good points about power point.
