  1. He stated that the cone was not offered as a perfect or mechanically flawless picture to be taken absolutely literally. It was merely designed as a visual aid to help explain the interrelationships of the various types of audio-visual materials, as well as their individual ‘positions’ in the learning process.
The cone shows what students will be able to do at each level of the Cone (the learning outcomes they will be able to achieve) relative to the type of activity they are doing (reading, hearing, viewing images, etc.). The numerical figures on the left side of the image, what people will generally remember, indicate that practical, hands-on experience in a real-life context will allow students to remember best what they do.

  2. 1)
it is arranged from concrete to abstract.
Dale argues that people remember 90% of what they do, 70% of what they say and write, 50% of what they see and hear, 30% of what they see, 20% of what they hear, and 10% of what they read.
WE NOTICE THAT THE MORE WE GO UP THE CONE, WE BECOME MORE EXPERIENCED.

As far as I learned about the cone of Experience, the important contributions of the cone to teaching are the following:
    a. It informs the teachers the relationship and the places of some audio-visual materials (visual aids in reporting) to the effectiveness of the teaching process.
    b. It creates link/connection between concrete (TOPIC) and abstract (THE RELEVANCE OF THE TOPIC) designs which is one of the main idea of teaching and learning.
    c. It helps the teacher on choosing what appropriate media (COMPUTER, TELEVISION) he/she can use in transferring information/data to his/her students and for them to be attracted of the discussion.
    d. It gives the teacher the effective tools (SHARING) to maintain communication process because it makes communication depends not only in words but also on their own experience, indeed, the teacher must really relate the topic to his/her student’s experience.

  4. The cone of experience is arranged by its degree of abstraction. The bottom one which is the Direct Purposeful Experience has the most concrete abstraction because it allows us to use all our senses. On the other hand, there are fewer senses engaged or involved as we scroll up to the top of the cone. The first one is followed then by contrived experiences, dramatized experiences, demonstrations, study trips, exhibits, educational television, motion pictures, recordings, radio and still pictures, visual symbols and gradually, it ends with verbal symbols. There is a better chance that many students can learn from those that have more sensory channels than those with less.

For me, the important contributions of Dale's Cone of Experience are as follows:

    1. It makes the teacher decide what appropriate activities and instructional resources she would use for a specific topic.

    2. The teacher can have many ideas on how to introduce a lesson in an interesting manner and not in a redundant way. This could actually help to stimulate the learner's minds.

    3. If and only if there are cases that the teacher can't manage to give the "real thing" in the classroom she would know how to substitute and have an edited version of reality by means of teaching with contrived experiences.
    4. It enhances the communication process, as the cone explains that a reading material should not only provide texts and words but also visual presentations.

  5. The importance of the Cone of Experience are:
    1. It gives opportunity for a learner to use his/her variety
or several senses (sight, smell, hearing,
touching, movement) is considered in the cone.
    2. It allows us to use our senses for us to perform well when direct experiences occur.
    3. It helps the teacher in innovating other variety of materials or media to impart learning and knowledge towards their students.
    4. It enhances the communication process, as the cone explains that a reading material should not only provide texts and words but also visual presentations.

  7. 1- the Dale cone is arranged from low to high which means it shows the progression of learning experience from concrete to abstract. it starts from motor skills and attitudes such as direct, contrived, and dramatized experience to cognative skills such as demostration, field studies, exhibits to information such as motion pictures audio, pictures texts...

2- the cone of experience helps teachers to choose a teaching-learning experience that help the teacher reach the desired result. it makes connections between concrete and abstract ideas. it supports communication process. it help students to use their senses during learning

  8. 1) the Dale's cone was arranged in such a way to show several methods of teaching where the most effective one is sited at the bottom of the cone which include most effective methods (hands-on experience). as we go up the cone we will be moving from concrete methods to more abstract methods (least effective) at the top of the cone (such as learning from information presented through listening).
    2) Dale's cone contributions to teaching:
1-help in choosing suitable tool for transfering information for students to understand.
2-It informs the teachers the relationship and the places of some audio-visual materials to the effectiveness of the teaching process.

The Cone of Experience is a graphical representation of Dale’s model of visual classification on ways of learning experiences. The theory assisted in the development of audio-visual methods in teaching that were used within the instructional technology field. The cone shape is designed of learning from the most concrete level of experience located at the bottom of the cone to the most abstract level of experience located at the point of the cone. Where a learner can attain in the process of learning and knowledge.

  11. • The cone of experience is arranged from concrete to abstract. The bottom part which is the Direct Purposeful Experience has the most concrete abstraction because it makes us use all our senses. However, there are fewer senses involved as we go up to the top of the cone.

The main contributions of the cone of experience to teaching are:

    1. It connects concrete and abstract ideas which are the main principles of teaching and learning.
    2. It also helps the professionals to select media on the basis of the experiences aimed to transfer students.
    3. It facilitates learning by the use of visual presentations.
    4. It allows us to use our senses for us to perform well when direct experiences occur

  12. Number 1:
Dale's cone of experiene is a model incorporating instructional theories in relation with the learning process. Dale stated that the cone is a visual aid for the learning experiences in accordance to their abstractness; that is from the most concrete at the bottom of the cone to the most abstract at the top. He believed that in the concrete part, the students will be using more senses that increases their learning abilities. On the other hand, in the upper part fewer senses are involved in the learning process, thus less effective learning.(Direct purposeful experience at the bottom to the verbal symbols on the top of the cone).

    Number 2:
The important contributions of the Cone of Experience made by Edgar Dale are:
    1. Using the cone, the instructor will attain theknowledge on the typ eof hands_on activities to be used (working authentically). This will allow students to relate concrete and abstract situations.
    2. Let the teacher implement the right resources to work on and engage the students along.
    3. It serves as a guide for instructors to know the most applicable strategy that targets the intended objectives and outcomes of the lesson provided. Thus, formulating an encouraging lesson structure.
    4. The cone is using different instructional media such as educational television, films and recordings, thus, it may create an interesting and active performance of participation inside the class. This incorporates to 'experiential learning' that increases the students' communicative skills.

  13. 1-

The cone of experience is a visual device to aid teachers in the selection of instructional media. It is done to show the progression of learning experiences from concrete(bottom of the cone) to abstract(the top of the cone). It is in the concrete learning that the experiences are first hand ,while in the abstract it is conceptual. There are 3 level in the cone of experiences which are : enactive direct experiences-iconic pictorial experiences-symbolic highly abstract experiences. The cone starts with enactive direct experiences at the bottom all through symbolic abstract experiences at the top.The process of learning must begin in concrete experiences and move toward the abstract if mastery is to be obtained.

    2-

The important contributions of the cone of experience to teaching :

    a. It informs the teachers the relationship and the places of some audio-visual materials to the effectiveness of the teaching process.
    b. It links between concrete and abstract which is one of the main idea of teaching and learning.
    c. It helps the teacher in choosing what appropriate media he/she can use in transferring information to the students and for them to be attracted to the discussion.
    d. It gives the teacher the effective tools to maintain communication process since it is dependent not only on words but also on their own experience.
    e. It gives opportunity for a learner to use his/her senses(sight, smell, hearing, touching, movement)which is considered in the cone.

  14. 1)
It describes the benefit of different types of learning experiences . The cone is organized by starting with the most abstract experiences from its top changing to the most concrete experiences at its bottom. From the top, it shows that people remember 10% of what they have read. The next 20% down is what they have heard. Then 30% of what they have seen, 50% of what they have seen and heard, and 70% of what they have said and wrote. In the bottom of the cone, people remember 90% of what they have performed.

    2)
The importance of the cone of experience:
1- determines how far the resources are from real-life situations.
2- determines what kind of experiences a teacher wants to provide for learners.
3- determines how many senses the learners can use in interacting the resources.
    4- supports communication process.

  15. I) Dale's cone of experience presents a set of different experiences that are arranged according to the degree of abstraction. From the bottom it starts with the Direct-Purposeful Experience that has the most concrete abstraction. At this level, learners can experience everything and use all of their senses thus they gain a maximum level of learning. Following this and upward are the contrived experience, dramatized experience, demonstrations, field trips, exhibits, motion pictures, audio/recordings/photos, and visual symbols. It ends up with the verbal symbols which is the least affective method. As we move upward, the more it become abstract in acquiring the knowledge and thus the less students can remember.

II) The importance of Dale's cone of experience:

    a. Connects between concrete and abstract ideas which is one of the main principles of teaching and learning.
    b. Help teachers to choose an appropriate media in order to transfer knowledge and information to learners.
    c. Allow students to use several senses and thus guide teachers in determining what senses to use in their basis of strategies for knowledge acquisition.
    d. Supports communication process by using not only words but also visual and experiential processes.
    e. Determines how far the resources are from real-life situations.

    • The Cone of Experience by Edgar Dale is arranged in a pyramid form by which the group place or assigned at its base, has the highest percentage of level on how a person generally remember, as they are at its most effective learning outcomes, As it is placed or assigned higher, it receive the lower to the lowest level to remember and give less up to the least learning outcomes.
It is arranged not according to degree of difficulty but to the degree of abstraction/concept. The more we go beyond, from the bottom of the cone up to its peak, the more conceptual/experienced it becomes.

    1. Through the cone of experience the instructors or the teachers has now the knowledge on what kind of activity they must use for a specific topic and learners.
    2. This cone can help the teachers make decisions on the resources they will use to impart learning to the students.
    3. Also this cone could be somewhat a guide for the teachers in the teaching and learning process. It is an guide in the sense that it could be their basis for the strategies they will use to make their students retain the lesson presented.

  20. Question 1: Dale's Cone of experience is based on a pyramid that divides the teaching learning experience. The bottom base represents the concrete experience in which learners learn through doing, designing etc through field trips, motion pictures and others. This provides authentic learning and ensures that it is acquired. By moving further to the top, learning becomes abstract (listening, discussion etc.)which is not considered so much effective if it isn't accompanied by concrete experience.

    Question 2: The contributions are:

    1. It sets standards for the usage of media in the teaching learning process. Media is used to enhance the process, so it should be used authentically for learners to benefit from this learning in their real life.
    2. It provided new roles for students and teachers as well. Students are participants in the process of learning and teaching, and teachers are facilitators of this process.
    3. It made learning present not only in the classroom and but also outside schools (by visiting a site, museum, going to the cinema etc.)
    4. It has great effects on schools and those students who were neglected in the areas of problem solving, composition etc. so the proper use of technology will close these gaps for the learners to move to higher learning level.

  25. Question 1:
Dale’s Cone of Experience is a model that incorporates several theories related to instructional design and learning processes. During the 1960s, Edgar Dale theorized that learners retain more information by what they “do” as opposed to what is “heard”, “read” or “observed”. His research led to the development of the Cone of Experience. Today, this “learning by doing” has become known as “experiential learning” or “action learning”.
